Welcome. We are José and Val Prado.

 

For many years, our lives have been shaped by people, places, and unexpected encounters along the way. Ministry and mission have taken us across countries and cultures, into churches and homes, around many tables, and into friendships that have remained with us through different seasons of life.

 

In recent years, much of that journey has taken place alongside migrants and refugees through Instituto Abuna, a humanitarian organization we founded in Brazil. Abuna has become a significant part of our story — a place where we continue learning about hospitality, dignity, belonging, faith, and what it means to walk alongside people as they rebuild their lives.

 

But Teleiós is something more personal.

 

WHY TELEIÓS?

 

The word teleiós comes from the Greek New Testament and carries the idea of maturity, wholeness, and something moving toward its intended purpose.

 

We first began using this name in 2006.

 

Over the years, however, we have learned that becoming whole does not mean having everything figured out. The journey includes encounters and missed encounters, open roads and unexpected detours, moments when we move forward and others when we need to retrace our steps to find the way again.

 

There are different seasons along the road.

 

And each season has something to teach us.

 

After a quieter period, Teleiós is becoming a place of writing again — a personal space where we can reflect on faith, mission, hospitality, Scripture, people we encounter, and the questions that continue to emerge along the way.

 

Some of these stories come from our work with Abuna. Others come from our family, friendships, travels, ministry, or simply from conversations around a table.

 

Often, they meet.

 

LETTERS FROM THE PRADOS

 

From time to time, we write to friends who have walked with us through different seasons of our lives.

 

Some have known us for many years. Others have joined the journey more recently. Some live nearby; many are scattered across different countries.

 

These letters carry stories from our home and family, from Abuna, and from the people and places we encounter along the way.

 

They are also a way of saying:

 

This is where we are.

This is what we are seeing.

This is what we are learning.

There are different seasons within a home.

 

There is a time to wait. A time to arrive. A time to learn a new language, get documents in order, and look for work. There are questions that arise after a few months gathered around a table. And there are seeds that need years before we can finally harvest their fruit.
